Easy Plum Cake Recipe: Simple and Delicious

 



Ingredients:

1: 2 cups all-purpose flour



  • 2: 1/2 teaspoons baking powder


3: 1/2 teaspoon baking soda


4: 1/2 teaspoon salt


  • 5: 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


  • 6: 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg


  • 7: 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened


  • 8: 1 cup granulated sugar


  • 9: 2 large eggs


  • 10: 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  • 11: 1/2 cup sour cream


  • 12: 1/4 cup milk


  • 13: 4-5 plums, pitted and sliced


  • 14: 2 tablespoons brown sugar


Instructions:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. You can use a hand mixer or stand mixer for this step.

  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream and milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.

  7. Arrange the plum slices on top of the batter in a decorative pattern. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the plums.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

  9. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. Optional: Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar before serving.
